Copenhagen, Denmark

 Another lovely European city! It was in the high fifties today but very sunny. I took the tour bus around town since I’ve been here before. The Danes seemed to think this was a summer day-cafes were crowded and people were in shirtsleeves! I took some pictures-the Little Mermaid statue in the harbor, a statue of Hans Christian Anderson, the Nyhavn section of the city, a sculpire of a baby outside the hospital.

Pop Up Market, Takoradi, Ghana

 The Takoradi Market Circle, which was huge in downtown Takoradi, has been closed by the government because of safety concerns. In response, many of the vendors set up a pop up market on the pier. Unlike other locations, the sellers here were extremely polite, grateful for sales, and never bothered people to make a sale. When I purchased a necklace, the man who sold it blessed me for buying from him!

John’s Birthday

 John’s 72nd birthday was celebrated yesterday at sea on the way to the Canary Islands. We had a lovely breakfast in the dining room, where the waiters sang Happy Birthday in Indonesian! Upon returning to our stateroom, we were surprised by a visit from room service with a birthday cupcake and note from the Captain. In the evening we ate at the Pinnacle Grill with friends and John had a special birthday cake. While we were eating , our room stewards decorated the cabin for another birthday surprise!
